"One of The Deadliest" Columbus Dispatch

"The death poll in Joplin, Missouri was 116 last night and expected to rise, making Sundays powerful tornado the nation's worst solo twister in nearly 60 years.  People in the city of 50,000 received somewhere between 17 and 24 minutes to find a safe place to be."
I am surprised in this day that the people did not have more time to prepare.  I am surprised that the news and weather radar can not alert the people earlier.  This is a major problem and rather scary to know that this happened to people.  Afterall it could have been us here in Worthington, Ohio.  What would you do if you had 17 mins. to prepare for a tornado.   I would have been trying to find  a place surrounded by cinder blocks. Something really sturdy..... wow it is really strange to think about.  Go set a timer for 17 mins. and see how fast that time goes by.  It gives you the willy's.
